in the best outfit i have worn in a long time. i am not bragging, but this week i wore some of my best outfits to date and this one tops them all. i felt amazing all day. who wouldn't in a maxi see-through skirt with pink lace shorts and a striped tee. i loved every second of this day and cannot wait to wear this skirt again.
as for putting the outfit together. it was all about playing with layers. i started with the shirt which i wanted to wear under a dress (which i ended up wearing the following day). then i spotted the shorts. i got them for christmas from my mom and have not worn them yet. i am still not quite ready for shorts.. and then the idea came to try it with this skirt over it. i knew it was see-through, so i was going to have to find something awesome to wear under it. to work, i needed something that would look like i was wearing a little more than just underwear. it was perfect. i added layers of jewelry and decided on these flat oxfords. i didn't want to try to dress up the skirt. i wanted it to be able to stand out on it's own.

i like to think if you are going to wear a neon pink rose printed silk shirt, you might as well pair it with neon green (or yellow, your pick) shoes. i referred to myself as a neon sandwich, with a 'neutral' color in the middle. i am so excited to have scored this shirt from the swap. i can envision all the things i am going to be able to do with it. it is a fun shirt, so it must be worn in fun ways. for my first time wearing it, i thought i would go the subtle route, but i don't think i will say the same for the second time. dare to bold. dare to be bright.

the sun still exists! 344.

some people have a hard time getting behind the midi trend. not me! i am loving it. it is ladylike, but cool at the same time. this awesome skirt i got from swap maine reminds me a little like a school uniform, so i thought it would be cool to go that route with it and add the white button down. but the final outcome was not schoolgirl, but totally awesome.

vacation. 335-343.

beware: the fashions you are about to see are not the most exciting. it rained on my vacation. the whole thing. so i spent a lot more time inside than i wanted to.

monday was lots of fun. i styled a shoot for a very wonderful person and lifecoach, megan jo wilson. it was fun to get to 'play dress up' with her. then i attended the screening of my heart is an idiot with the lovely sara hallie richardson. i did not get dressed for more than a cozy movie theater. i didn't even wear my watch or makeup, but somehow i ended up staying at sonny's until 1am, meeting the movies' star and director. i just went with flow and had a lot of fun.

tuesday.

on tuesday i treated myself to pancake tuesday at hot suppa. the blueberry pancakes were my favorite thing on the menu until they took them off. when i heard they served them only on tuesdays, i had to go. after breakfast, i met sarah from rice & beans vintage to pick up some goodies she was donating for swap maine. i had a meeting and then just hung around at home for the rest of the rainy day.

wednesday.
i had a workout with my trainer in the morning and then spent the rest of the day cleaning and going through my clothes for the swap. i think i also went to the bank, but did not really get dressed. i think the weather was really getting to me by the middle of the week.

at this point, i have had enough of the rain. i decided i wasn't going to let it get me down, so off to boston i went. i got to see one of my favorite people, my sister. we had a lovely dinner and went to the denim after dark event at madewell. i love in-store events. there is always good energy and food and drink, like cupcakes and sangria. i love shopping with my sister. i love helping her find things and give her my opinion. she has such effortless style on her own, but it is always fun to play with her.

friday.

once again, it rained. well, i guess, it was more of a mist. which i think is far worse than rain. i got home very late from boston and got up very early to go to my first social media breakfast maine. it was well worth the few hours of sleep i got. this month's breakfast was about marketing creatively. the speakers they had were awesome and really got me thinking about how to use social media effectively. i spent the next 6 hours of my day setting up for the first annual swap maine! i had a yummy dinner at silly's with terry and went to bed to rest up for the big day..

saturday, swapday.

this was the big day! the first swap maine! it was a great day and the event was a success! if i look like i am about to fall asleep in these pictures, it is because they were taken after the swap and boy was i tired. on this day, everyone was a winner. we made money and made a large donation for goodwill. everyone who came out scored cool free clothes and a bag full of local swag. and i got to host this amazing event and get some really awesome new things. (will post more details about this soon) after running the swap, i had dinner at duck fat. yum, bgt and fries.. then i met up with some girlfriends for drinks. i was so surprised after the day i had that i was able to stay up until the wee hours of the night (or morning), but it was fun, so it was worth it.

today i slept in. terry treated me to brunch at hot suppa. we went to the apple store. then i spent most of the day at my parent's house. i did my laundry (washed all my new clothes from the swap), had dinner with them, and just hung out. i ended the evening with a movie, due date, with terry, his sister, and her fiance. it was a funny movie, complete with brownies. we stayed up late. a nice way to spend my last non-work night before my vacation was over.

p.s. i am wearing my first item from the swap! check out these sweet flats i got.

monday.
i wore sweats. i stayed inside. i cleaned. i just wanted to relax before i had to go back to work.

even though it rained through my entire vacation, i still had a lot of fun. i got a much needed break and got something done. obviously, not as much as i wanted, but i don't know if that is ever possible. i again want to say the clothes could have been better, but just wait for the sun to come out again and i know my inspiration will not be lacking..
