tie a bow on it.

need a casual look for a warm fall day? just take two pieces from your summer wardrobe, layer them, add jeans and peep toe flats. while you are at, tie a bow on your head! how are you going to have a bad day when you know you are wearing a colorful bow on your head? and who could ever be mean to you when they see you with said bow?! it's a sure fire way to make anyones day.

for this style of headband, i used a long scarf that was only about 4 inches wide. i rolled it a few times then just tied it around my head in a normal bow (think tying your shoe), centering it to one side of my head instead of the back. using a thinner scarf was helping in making it not too bulky and easier to tie.

what creative ways do you wear your scarves?

with new designers on board came an athletic streetwear look. in mainly primary colors, the youthful shapes, such as anoraks, palazzo pants, and peplum tops, came in bold solids, abstract and animal prints. loving the layering, shoes, and the peplums over the wide bottoms. great color blocking and collars!

pfw: kanye west.

yup. that's right. kanye west debuted his first collection yesterday during paris fashion week.
if you don't know much about him, besides, i'm sure, the negative stories, he is a major lover of fashion and has been planning on this for years. personally, i am sort of a fan of the collection. and no, i am not just saying this because i am a fan of kanye. he used beautiful fabrics and there were no over-the-top stunts some may have expected. there is an obvious issue with fit, but look at those shoes! (yes there was help from giuseppe zanotti and other power players in the industry, like katie eary). as a first collection, i think this is a great starting point. you can only go up.
take a look for yourself. i would love to know what you think!

bold colored prints, feather headdresses, chunky mary janes, sporty outerwear, modern trenches. enough said.

pfw: christian dior.

in one word: pretty.
everything was very ladylike, even when sheer, and you could see a lot of original christian dior looks mixed in and made modern.
you may recall that recently there was a change of hands at dior..
it may be part of the reason for this collection.

beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
every look was sexy and sophisticated. there were a lot of separates with cool details. the broad shoulders, wide sleeves, and that rusty rose color were what first caught my eye. the rest was just a bonus.

lots of menswear details, deconstructed pieces, and neutral colors were the main things you see right away. beyond that were a few pieces in a beautiful red based print looking much like the runway (an oriental rug) and how can you not notice the girls covered in plastic. i love the capes and the tuxedo-like pieces.
