alexa chung for madewell.

tomorrow alexa chung's newest collection for madewell hits stores. if you are not familiar with madewell, i highly recommend checking it out. they are known for their great fitting denim and shoes, especially their boots. as for alexa chung, she is something of a style maven. the pieces in this collection are definitely swoon worthy.

lfw: burberry prorsum.

rich colors, tribal prints, major outwear pieces, insane shoes, ladylike & body con skirts, but is it for spring or fall?

lfw: matthew williamson.

the colors and prints make me think a little bit of fall, but either way, they are beautiful. i am a sucker for a skinny trouser and a loose top. a little structured, a little bohemian.

lfw: mulberry.

take something classic, sophisticated and add something with an edge, like a leather jacket, major sequins, or crazy hair and this is what you get. cool.

wild & crazy.. maybe.

dress - goodwill
belt - vintage
shoes - nine west

when i saw this hanging on the rack at goodwill, i just about died. it was so bright and bold and the mix of ruffles were so intriguing. i immediately threw it in my cart. yup, i said cart. do not go through a goodwill store without one. try on anything and everything that catches your eye. you never know what will actually work! this dress is a little bit big. this is an easy fix. you can add a belt like i did here or for a cool evening, i wore it open at the top over a long sleeve shirt dress. where the dress is a bit sheer, wearing it over something form fitting give the outfit more dimension and makes the oversized aspect seem purposeful. this dress doesn't have to be dressed up and worn with heels, but with a cool pair of flat sandals as well. trust me, it is fun to take something bold & different and wear it like it is as causal & easy as your favorite pair of denim. tone a crazy piece down with very casual, basic pieces for a fun, unique look.

necklaces - j crew, flea market

on this particular day, i was feeling a little crafty. i woke up and decided to cut the arms off an old jean jacket (i wore it in my senior pictures.. it's that old) and turn it into the denim vest i had been wanting for summer. here's a tip: if you want something, rather than going out and buying it, just make it! i had this jacket for a long time and i knew i would never where it as a jacket again, so why not try it out as a vest! as for the rest of the outfit, i am so in love with this dress. its mid length, floral with a bit of a 90s feel. adding the denim vest really made it a bit more grunge. i dressed it up with some cool lace up booties and added a few necklaces; one of my favorites, the neon pink elephant & another diy piece. i really like big, statement necklaces and while at a flea market a month ago, i spotted this cage on a keychain and thought it was too cool to pass up (it even opens up so i can carry things in it!). i took off the keychain part and put in on another necklace with another little elephant to wear with my neon elephant. and yes, i did refer to my necklace party as a herd all day.

i cant explain exactly why, but i love every bit of this collection. the shapes, the colors, the cutouts, the shorts, the hats.. i love everything.
