Jil Sander.

this is by far one of my favorite shows for ss11. the looks are big, but very simple. raf simons said the idea for this collection came from a discussion on minimalism and it's opposite, maximalism. this played in to proportions. tops were slim and bottoms were full of volume. the colors are amazing; bright and vibrant. my favorite look was the striped dress, closely followed by the floral print.

fall day two is the first time i have worn leggings since last winter. since they are thicker than tights, it makes me feel better about wearing a dress this length. my outfit is very basic and with a statement necklace like this, it makes every thing a little more exciting.

runway, real way edition

i will first start off by saying.. i bought this skirt! i bought it after my 30 days were up. i found it at goodwill when i was shopping for work and it was only $3. it is very hard to pass up something that good of a deal.
this michael kors outfit was my inspiration for today's outfit. i have been waiting until it was officially fall to wear this skirt and paired it with a sweater and boots. the sweater from michael kors is a little too low cut for real life. i took a cardigan and, without buttoning it, i crossed it and tucked it to my skirt for my take on 'sweater dressing'. the michael kors outfit costs $2,290 or $3,585 if you include the shoes. mine cost me $18 without the boots or about $118 with the boots. and minus the fact i am not a model, i think this outfit looks almost as good!
ps. wish the pictures were better, especially the shirt. oops.

last day of summer. 106.

what better way to end summer than swinging on the swings and since tonight school was literally in session for me (portland adult ed!), what better way to end such a beautiful night. luckily for us, today was very warm and i knew it would probably be the last time i could wear shorts without tights, i took full advantage. paired with a light blazer in a similar color scheme, i stayed the perfect temperature. i have kind of moved passed sandals, so light gray flats took their place.

here is my take on military dressing. a pretty pink sweater with shoulder detailing paired with a khaki shirt makes the look much more feminine. i paired it with brown tights and booties for a more fall look.

gaga for equality.

today's rally at deering oaks to repeal don't ask don't tell was great. i know there was a big turn out because of the special guest, lady gaga herself. but it quickly became much more than that. veterans who were discharged after someone found out they were gay told their stories and a few people from congressed rallied for our support. it was very moving and i wont lie, i got choked up. lady gaga's speech was more than just a celebrity endorsement. you could tell she was speaking from the heart and meant what she said. to her 'equality is the prime rib of american' and 'everyone should be able to wear their own meat dress'. but my favorite was 'if you don't like it, go home'.

denim for my day off.. as a shirt that is. i tucked it in for what i feel is a very j.crew way of dressing. i am all about tights now that i have worn them once. i am giving my aa high waisted skirts a taste of fall, showing you how versatile they really are.
