2013 golden globes red carpet.
and these are a few of my favorite things:
lavender, beading, chiffon, cap sleeves (esp. beaded ones).
nude beading.
black done very sexy, fabulous neckline, book bag.
sheer, beading, pastel, nude, belted.
cap sleeve. high neck, gold foil, baroque feel.
navy, pleated chiffon.
classic beauty.
hot couples.
julianne moore. black & white, long sleeves, shoulder pads.
black & gold.
white peplum chanel.
polka dots & bows.
black & gold, long sleeves. and i mean, it's helen mirren.
and one more time.. black & gold and long sleeves.
hopefully this is a look into award season future because this red carpet did not disappoint. i may be biased because i am a sucker for pastels, beading, and chiffon and there was plenty to go around. but i just hope that with things like the great gatsby on the horizon, we can continue to be inspired to bring out that glamour and finger waves!
and this was just my opinion. i welcome yours! what were your favorites? agree or disagree with mine?
awfully cute.
so since it is my birthday weekend, terry and i went to davis square today (really, i was waiting for him to get his hair cut). while i was waiting i had a great cup of coffee at diesel and then did some window shopping.
i wanted to buy myself a treat, so i went to my favorite store in davis square, called magpie. it reminds me of a cross between wyler's, ferdinand (which they sell in this store!! along with angela adams! no wonder it feels like home!), and the merchant company. hanging on the wall in the store were these oh-so-cute animal heads, called horrible adorables! though they were a little too much money for me today, they were just too cute not to share!

work style.
so i know this does not count as an outfit post, but i thought i would share a bit of my current style. as always, it is different everyday and this day i was feeling particularly bohemian. this also works for one of those outfits you can throw on without thinking on those days you don't want to get out of bed (which since i get up around 4am, this is most days).
as you can tell by my partner-in-crime, ali, there is a lot of love for bleach dyed denim. these have to be my favorite pants right now. the boyfriend fit is great, they are super comfortable, and they have a slight edge to them. for this particular outfit, i paired them with a victoria's secret night shirt (found at salvation army) and a soft gray tee. super easy and an outfit i feel really great it!

two thousand thirteen.
happy new year everyone! welcome to 2013. 2012 held a lot of changes for me. a lot of ups and a lot of downs. there were new challenges and great successes. i had the opportunity to work on some great projects, i was featured in a magazine, in an ad for goodwill of northern new england, and nominated for a portland phoenix award. i moved to boston and got a promotion. i had the worst moving and finding an apartment experience, including being without a home for a few days. i gained a few pounds and became my most unhealthy self. i have been unmotivated and lacking passion. i felt kinds of stress i may not have ever felt before. i made new, wonderful friends and really started to feel like i am becoming the person i want be. i am excited for this new year. for me, it always feels like the marking of a new beginning. it is a fresh start to continue with the positive things that 2012 brought and to make changes and make better of the negative things that 2012 left me with.
i'm sure just like most of you, i plan for this to be the best year yet. however, i started this new year off just as i ended the last one.. unorganized. case in point: through all the holiday travel, i have lost the charger to my laptop which is also dead. sweet william speaking.. no access to my photos or any other blog related material, so wish me luck in finding it!
along with becoming more organized this year, i am focusing this year on health. healthy mind, healthy body, healthy relationships. as i get closer to 30, i know i want to enter that part of my life in a happier, healthier state. knowing how resolutions usually work with most people (meaning they don't work), i am taking this one day at a time, reminding myself that everything won't happen over night. little things lead to big changes. i have some specific things planned for this year and i will keep you updated in my journey.
so after i've talked about myself, what are you looking forward to this new year? what were your favorite parts of 2012?

here is a an outfit from 2012 i never shared from the night i met the sartorialist, scott schuman! i really love this menswear look with super fun OVERALL cut-offs. the overalls make this look a little less serious with a bit of a flirty girly aspect to play off the collar and blazer.
