this week, i have showed how to wear a blazer in two different ways. monday i wore it to dress up jeans and today i have paired it with a dress. i chose the blazer today over a black cardigan i had also tried on. the blazer looked nicer and had a longer, more flattering fit. this is also another example of how i mix black and shades of brown. the blazer also added more black since my tights and boots were both brown. after wearing these tights all day, i have decided they are not my favorite brown ones. i wish they were darker or a different shade. other than that, i liked this outfit.

when you realize you are suppose to be at work 2 minutes ago, it make it easy to have a shirt to throw on that looks like an outfit in itself. this one is silky, have lots of ruffles, buttons, and a tie. it looks nice without having to try. pairing it with black pants and my go to boots (if you haven't noticed yet), made it easy to literally run out the door.

i will start off by saying i love this outfit. i felt so great all day. i went to a social media and marketing conference for work in mass. i love how you can wear dark jeans and still look as dressed up as someone in dress pants. i think it has to do with being put together and of course, feeling confident. a sheer top under a blazer added to the dressed up casual look and i topped it off with some of my favorite killer heels. it was comfortable for sitting all day, but still looked great.

Kirby's Bachelorette Weekend! 135, 136, 137.

i had more fun this weekend than i have had in a long time. we are in boston this weekend to celebrate my friend kirby's bachelorette party. and celebrate, we did!
friday night started with 9 of us at jacque's for a drag show. this ladies really have style and definitely know how to work it. i wore a modified harem with a plaid shirt, fur vest, and red heels. to prove how hot my outfit was, destiny decided to take it from me to wear on in her while she performed!
saturday started with breakfast and the arrival of a few more girls. we headed to gypsy rose for pole dancing class. i must say i was bruised and sore after this. i have to give props to the strippers out there for their level of fitness. we then added the finally ladies to our group for dinner and a night out. the attire was black tops and jeans. it was cool to see everyone dressed similar, but with their own individual styles. we ended with a total of 18 girls for the biggest slumber party i have ever been too.
sunday was a day for brunch and window shopping on newbury street with my sister. it was a slow day that ended with homemade dinner and cookies.

happy weekend.

you will not here from me this weekend because i will be at a three day bachelorette party in boston. very excited!! hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. i know i will.

cord. 134.

today i mixed autumn tones with pinks. i love the contrast between the dark cords and the silk top. the blazer is quilted pieces of green plaids which matches well with the pants. the shoes are a darker shade of the shirt.

i guess you could call this a shirt or a jacket. today i wore it as both. i only buttoned the middle buttons to show my all black outfit underneath. this jacket has a great rose graphic and some ribbon detailing on the front and the back. i kept everything else black, except for my scarf. it was a great pop of color and helped to bring out the color in my shirt as well.

leather and camel. 132.

camel is the color of the season and i couldn't be happier (still wanting a camel coat..). i am also wearing leather pants! this is the first time i have ever worn leather other than in a jacket or bag. not to say these pants are new. i got them last winter but never wore them. they were a fabulous deal; $250 regular price and i got them for $40. they are fully lined and have great detailing. i will say i did get this sweater this season. i found an h&m gift card left over from christmas and couldn't pass up the deal. and i did need to add some camel to my wardrobe. this is the only new piece i have gotten for fall, so i still think i am doing pretty well.. there are buttons down the side and along with the neck, add some nice details to an otherwise simple cape. camel and brown seemed to be the color of the day. there were so many people at work wearing one or both of the colors. did you wear this combination today too?

mondays are usual a slow day at work, so black denim, a pretty top, and flats seemed like a good outfit to try to get some projects done in. this shirt is pretty simple, but has some nice details at the neck and cuffs, with one of my favorite things, buttons!

just like every other sunday, this was filled with errands, football, and food. the sun was out and it was a really nice day. i took one a of my boyfriend's wool sweaters and my favorite jeans with a cute pair of flats and made a comfy, warm sunday outfit.

i love to mix print and mix colors that may not be your first choice to put together. it adds for an unexpected look. for this outfit i took a pretty floral print dress and added some hard pieces like the boots. i used the bright yellow sweater to bring out the pinks and the dress and keep with the girly look.

vintage floral. 128.

today, i draped a cardigan over a long floral print dress and cinched it with a belt. i have had this dress for year and this was the first time i have ever worn it. i love the print, but as a dress, i couldn't find the right use for it. i put the sweater over it almost to look like it was a skirt not a dress. i am not the biggest fan of the neckline of the dress (it just drapes in the front and get tighter through the bodice), so i wore it backwards so it was a vneck instead. i added another statement necklace in similar colors to add to the feminine look. i was told that this was grandma chic and i'm okay with that. i like the ladylike look of the skirt with the messier top and harder looking belt.

this definitely the week of reusing my summer pieces. the ones i wore this week were the pieces that were hard to wear more than once in the same season, so it feels good to get use out of them again this fall. even though when worn alone this dress is perfect for summer, the colors are perfect for fall. this is the first time i have worn a turtleneck, so it really must mean cooler weather is here. i chose black tights again as to not wear too much of one color. i filled in the space at the neck with a yellow-green statement necklace which brought out the colors in the dress.

i am very in to the maxi skirt, even though this is actually a dress. this must be the week of transitional dressing because this was a summer dress i am now wearing for fall. i layered the dress with a slouchy sweater and then added socks and sandals to complete my fall look. i am really loving the turban look and this was the closest i've gotten so far with a turban headband. i also used the scarf for a little punch of color. i would love to have a more fitted skirt to try with a look like this to give it even more contrast in fit.

this is a good example of taking a piece from summer to fall. this romper was perfect this summer. i love the print and colors, so i'm glad i found a way to transform it for fall. i added a thick sweater vest, black tights, and boots. i added the brown belt for definition and to break up all the black. this was also an easy transition because it is has been a pretty mild fall so far.

mixing brown and black is so much fun. it looks dressy and not overly matchy matchy. it also make it easier to go from day to night, especially on a saturday. i like with this outfit you only see a small portion of the black jean, but it makes a bolder statement than using, say, leggings. this is obviously my go to boot for this season. i can wear it with every single outfit and it looks great every time.

i like that when you pair things that are similar in color, it is easy to mix patterns (in this case all stripes) without making the outfit look busy. boyfriend sized oxford and cardigan paired with jeggings makes for a very comfy day. add pretty, girly details like ruffles and flowers to balance it out.

Finally!

my internet is back so i promise great things to come. soon.

i haven't worn this jacket many times. i always have a hard time pairing it with things. gray pants and a white tshirt make it look dressy, but still keep it young. i broke it up with a bright green belt, so it wasn't all shades of black.

i took a simple gray shift dress and took it up a notch with bright pink tights! i added a few little pops of color with my bangles. i kept my shoes black to show off the tights and so there wasn't too much going on.

pale and pretty. 118.

i took two pieces that were pale, muted colors and paired them with darker accessories. i am a lover of structured, slim bottoms with flowy, looser tops. i think it is a slimming look and the top hides most of the things we are trying not to show off. cuffing the pants and rolling the sleeves gives it a laid back look and the purple booties help to dress it up just a little.

monday. 117.

it is not often that i get dressed on mondays but this week i did. this is not the most flattering outfit and i wont really promote wearing this like this. but when you don't do much out of the house, it is comfortable and perfect. i have had these pants for like 6 years. i love the way chucks look with a wide leg pant (some of the reason i wore the pants). i added a fitted henley and an oversized sweater. my apartment is so cold, so i needed the warmth. this worked for the kind of day i had, but it isn't breaking any fashion boundaries.

this is the best sunday outfit i've worn in awhile. i love this cape. it is a nice option for a jacket since you can still see what you have on underneath. by now, you know how i feel about stripes. i think mixing blacks and browns is a nice way to break up an outfit and give it a nice balance between dressy and casual. this hat is one of my favorite things i own. this was my grandfather's. he was the type that always left the house looking put together and always wore a hat. i feel honored to own this and get to wear it like he did.

it's in the blood.

what my sister wore today:
shirt - her boyfriend's shirt that shrunk so it is too small for him
jeans - madewell
boots - frye
bag - marc by marc jacobs.

her style is so effortless and she always looks great. she wears only what she finds comfortable and doesn't really care to follow trends. this outfit was great. it was so simple, yet i kept finding myself drawn to it.

this is total comfort at its best. this week has been all about comfort for me. i like wearing clothes that look great, but feel like im in my pajamas at the same time. i have been wanting to wear my jumpsuit again because i love the shape of the legs, but im not too crazy about the top. by layering with a tank and sweater, it hides the top and looks like they are just pants. each piece is baggy, so i pulled it together with a belt. i chose the red one for a pop of color with a black and white outfit.

gooddaymaine. 115.

i got up at 5am this morning to style models for a segment on good day maine. it was great but it was very early. i got dressed in the dark to be nice to my sleeping boyfriend and found the most comfortable thing i could find. this oversized sweater over a pencil skirt was comfortable and still chic.
